Team Sarcoma/Portugal
Gustavo R. Alves, PhD, who is at the Research Laboratory on Test Systems at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, organized a Team Sarcoma/Portugal as part of Team Sarcoma 2006. To understand Gustavo's note to us (which follows), you need to know that here was a 17-year old Portuguese patient on the bike tour in Denmark by the name of Daniel. After Team Portugal's event, Gustavo wrote to us, " The event gathered about 20 participants, including 15 scouts, Paulo Ferreira, Daniel’s parents, a friend of Daniel’s parents, and Gustavo. The ride started at 11:00 am, at Praia the Matosinhos (Google Earth coordinates 41º 10’ 46,23’’ N 8º 41’ 38,41’’ W), went along the Passeio Alegre until the Light House (Google Earth coordinates 41º 08’ 50,87’’ N 8º 40’ 01,49’’ W), and then back to the departure spot, with a total distance of 10 Kms (approx.). Before the ride, Daniels’s mother, Gustavo and Nuno (a scout that participated in Team Sarcoma / Portugal, July 2003) were interviewed by a report team from TVI (Televisão Independente, www.tvi.iol.pt), on the spot. The interviews were broadcasted on the next day at the afternoon news (around 1:40 pm). The group sent a big “hello” to Daniel, at that moment in Denmark (see last second of the news video)."
